Tesla Roadster
In August 2007, ATD were approached by Tesla to engineer a full leather interior for their electric sports car.
Using existing painted plastic mouldings, we re-engineered them to accommodate the seamlines and increased thickness of the leather to create a full leather interior.
Tesla were so pleased with the quality of the final product, they asked us to manufacture a further 2000 interiors to the same specification. In March 2009, we began supplying the complete interior at a volume of 25 cars per week. The full interior was supplied to sequence by VIN number to the Tesla assembly plant.
ATD were responsible for the engineering, procurement, quality management and logistics for all sub-components for the vehicle interior and the quality assurance of the finished parts.
