ATD interior for the Land Rover Defender Works V8 Islay Edition
19/05/2023
Land Rover's Classic division has launched the new Islay Edition to mark Land Rover's 75th anniversary in 2023. The Islay Edition is inspired by the 1965 Series 11a owned by Spencer Wilks, one of the founders of Land Rover. Wilks tested early prototypes of that vehicle on the Isle of Islay in Scotland, which was inspiration for the name.
With an exterior in Heritage Grey, the interior celebrates the Defender's history. ATD are responsible for the supply of the complete interior with the seats, side trims, roof lining and dashboard in Windsor Ebony leather. The special tweed design has been created by the Islay Woollen Mill which also features throughout the interior. The oak used for the central stowage space and the base of each cup holder has been sourced from Kilchoman whiskey distillery barrels, another tribute to Scotland.
Only 30 Islay Edition vehicles will be made, across the long and short wheelbase versions, ensuring exclusivity.
